Shabe yalda (شب یلدا), or the night of yalda, is a persian festival celebrated on the longest and darkest night of the year in the northern hemisphere i.e., the night of the winter solstice. It is the eve of the birth of mithra, the sun god, who symbolised light, goodness and strength on earth.
